Course Abstract:
Since the “Safe to Sleep” campaign has been implemented as a protocol for sleep, creative tools in addressing symmetry issues are needed in each practitioner's toolbox. The child’s health, ability to thrive, and inner drive to direct their gifting and autonomy is often compromised. This training opportunity is presented to provide an effective and holistic treatment protocol for infants and young children with developmental delays resulting from poor symmetry development. Many planes of symmetry will be addressed from tongue to toe. The course will target the infant and toddler as the primary age of treatment although the training will have benefit for most pediatric ages.
Training in evaluation, treatment, and home exercise programs will be structured in a framework for effective treatment of barrier areas, family autonomy, and problem solving for the clinician. The treatment protocol incorporates natural movement, breath, sensation, and engagement to treat pain, fascia mobility, range of motion, midline orientation, reflexes, transitions in developmental skills, digestion, and other associated issues with gross motor, fine motor, ocular and oral development.
Learning Objectives:
-
The Learner will achieve understanding of a protocol for developing symmetry.
-
The learner will develop skills for effective home programming and family autonomy.
